BRAIN PRINT

Terms

Last updated 18 August 2026

Plain language, because a personal notes app does not need six pages of it. Using Brain Print means you agree to what follows. If you do not, please do not use it.

What this is

Brain Print is a small product made by Birch Tree Studio. It is provided as-is and as-available, with no warranty of any kind. We try hard to keep it running and we will tell you honestly when something breaks, but we do not promise that it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of faults.

Your content is yours

Everything you put in Brain Print belongs to you. We claim no ownership of it and no licence beyond what is technically required to store it and show it back to you. We do not read your entries, sell them, or train anything on them.

Locked entries, and the part you cannot undo

If you use locked entries, your passphrase is never sent to us and never stored. That is the point of the feature and it has one consequence you must accept before you rely on it: if you forget your passphrase, the contents are gone permanently and nobody — including us — can recover them. Keep it somewhere you will still have in ten years. We cannot reset it, and we are not liable for content lost because a passphrase was forgotten or mistyped.

Backups

Treat Brain Print as your working copy, not your only copy. We look after your data carefully, but no service is a substitute for a backup you control, and you are responsible for keeping one if the contents matter to you.

Your responsibilities

Keep your sign-in email account secure — anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in link. Do not use Brain Print to store or distribute anything illegal, and do not attack, overload, or attempt to break into the service.

What it costs

Brain Print is free to use today. It may not always be — if it ever moves to a paid plan, existing users will be told in advance and given time to export or delete their data before anything changes. We will not put your existing entries behind a paywall without warning.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Birch Tree Studio is not liable for lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Brain Print. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service — which, while it is free, is nothing. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud.

Ending it

You can stop using Brain Print whenever you like and ask us to delete your account from the support page. We can suspend or close an account being used to break the law or to attack the service, and we will tell you why. We may also discontinue Brain Print entirely — if we do, we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your data out first.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we will say what moved. We will not quietly rewrite them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, and any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.
